My dog has been acting very strange, over the last 4 days he has not had much of an appetite and when he does eat it's small slow bites. He is also very restless, he paces around and will only sit for a couple of seconds and then stands right back up. He also keep trying to scratch and lick his backside. Yesterday I noticed a lot of mucus in his stool and small traces of blood. And last but not least he tends to be spending most of his time behind the couch or under the bed when he is usually very social. What's wrong with my baby? I can't afford to take him to the vet until Friday, I need to know if he will be okay until then.

There's really no way to diagnose what's wrong, or to tell you if he'll be okay until Friday.

It could be a blockage, it could be a clogged anal gland, and the list goes on. Only a vet can tell you what's going on.

I will say that if you can find a way to get him in sooner, I would. I wouldn't risk waiting until Friday.

Thanks for the response, after examining some of his stool and doing some online research I have come to the conclusion that he may have whipworm. There's no way I can go to the vet sooner than Friday, I'm hoping some over the counter worm meds will put the problem at ease until I can get him in. What do you know about whip worm?

If the dog is not eating, the dog needs to get to the vet now, not Friday.

And to treat the animal without knowing for sure, can make it worst.

I agree that treatment in the absence of a diagnosis could be dangerous, not be mention ineffective.
It could be a blockage as Alty said, or colitis, he could have gotten into some trash or eaten something he shouldn't have, what ever it is is making him very uncomfortable as the hiding and pacing is suggestive that he may be in pain.
I really wouldn't wait 2 more days, an office visit to get him checked out should not be that expensive. They may have payment options that you and the vet can both be satisfied with, but it doesn't sound as if you should put it off.

I love my dog dearly which is why I am here, but I don't think you all understood when I said that I CAN'T afford to take him until Friday.. Period, I'm not choosing to put it off, I hate that he is in pain, which is why I'm trying to do what I can to make him comfortable until I can get him the care he needs. Even applied for care credit. I'm pretty sure I saw something in his stool that looked like it shouldn't have been there.

An office visit shouldn't run more than $40-$55, after a physical assessment take it form there. I realize that you are not choosing to not take her, but typically if you need something done even if unconventional there is a way to make it happen.
Loan from family or friend, take something to the pawn shop, there is a store in my town that buys old DVDs and games-what about something like that, sell something, call the shelter, humane society, rescue groups to see if there are any programs they know of to help you and your pet. I live paycheck to paycheck, I know how it is, that in itself is a problem, but not thinking outside the box at a time when you need to really be creative is all up to you, not about your bank account.
And while we realize how tough times are, you must realize that we can not diagnose or suggest treatments for your dogs that may end up doing her more harm.
I truly hope you can get him there sooner, I wish you both luck.

The vet won't bill her? Mine does. I have as much as a month's time to pay, depending on when I went in.

I've never had a vet that does that, payment is due at the end of the appointment, unless you arrange a payment plan that many vets won't do.

Did you get your pooch to the vet last Friday? If so, what was the diagnosis?
