Last months period I had spotting only when I whipped myself. This was very unusual since I'm always on schedule. According to that month, my period is overdue by 30 days. Assuming I didn't start. If I counted the spotting as a start period then this month, I would be late by 2 days and if I don't start today it will be 3 days. BUT I'm 38 yrs of age. Could this be a factor? I seen my General and GYN Dr. 3 months ago and asked if I can get checked for hormone levels to see about pre-medapause and was told by both that everything is normal. I've had minimal cramps about 5 days ago & I assumed I was getting ready to start. Monday I was on a long trip so I used a tampon in case I started and when I removed the applicator it had some signs of the beginning of your period but still nothing and since then no cramps. Breast are tender. The thing is, it's a scary situation for me for many many reasons... Any and all advice greatly appreciated. By the way, I also have the IUD. Like I said NEVER EVER, missed or been late! Always a couple of days early. Or right on time.

Assuming all things normal, as you age, there are changes, and even young women will just miss a period from time to time. Is there a reason you expect pregnancy and have you tested for it ?

Thank you for your answer. I've not tested I'm too nervous and reason I suspect pregnancy is because I normally watch what I eat and eat very small maybe even tiny portions at a time. And recently, a few people pouted out I've been eating and craving a lot. That's when I started freaking out! This was brought to my attention almost 2 weeks ago. My mistake was... Are you ready... I was with a now just turned 26 year old! Oh my:/ I have a calendar that tracks everything from intimacy to ovulation, I mean everything. I'm using 2, 1 assuming I'm tracking like I started as I whipped and counted it as a "normal cycle" which tells me I'm 2 days late and the other as a never started cycle, which tells me I'm 30 days over due. We didn't use protection except the IUD I have. I did have him tested (blood) for all std's. But relied on the IUD far too much!

I'd try a test now since it doesn't sound like you believe the last period was an actual period. Use first morning urine. If that test is negative, wait until this period is 2 weeks late and test again. Testing is really the only way you're going to find out if this is a pregnancy.

So now I'm 3 days late assuming I'm only counting this month. I was going to test today as you suggested but got intense cramps and expect that I will get my period today. I've never missed during stress and actually the opposite. I get it when I have stress and or special engagements/events. I didn't have stress, but its starting to build up now. This young man would be nervouse but excited as he mentioned many feelings and the fact that he would love to father a child with me. I on the other hand, would have mixed emotions. It is so much more complicated than it sounds.
I'm hoping its just my body doing something weird or a higher power trying to shake some sense into me lol but either way I'm going to wait and hope the cramps from early this morning (2hrs) means flow is coming to visit. :)
