    Gum disease
I am 53 years old and a female. I have no insurance for dental. My income is limited. My question to you is, I have gum disease. I was told it would cost me 1000.00 or more to correct this. Meanwhile I am watching my gums recede. Soon my teeth are going to fall out I know this. What can I do? Is there anywhere to get some help?

Me too. Are you in the city or suburbs? (if so, which ones -- northern, western, south?)

If you are in the city, call your CPL branch and ask the reference department for names, locations, and phone numbers of low-cost or even free dental clinics. Those might include a dental clinic at an area university or a dental clinic associated with Catholic Charities or a dental clinic funded by Cook County/the City of Chicago.

If you can get out to Wheaton, there's a dental clinic at the People's Resource Center on Roosevelt Road. Of course, you would have to call ahead and make an appointment.

    People's Resource Center

Or call them and they probably know of similar clinics in Chicago.**

There may be a dentist in your area who normally takes regular-payment/insured patients but also does occasional low-cost work for people who have no insurance.

First, start making phone calls. Please let me know how your search is going.
