May have been a movie, maybe an old horror series (not Twilight Zone or Thriller):
A man and woman are visiting his mother in an old house. She's acting strangely distant and tells them there's food in the cabinet. When they go to the cabinet all they find are a few stale, old crackers. At this point I think they start to suspect the old woman has been dead for some time.
