I ask this under the heading Pest Control because the Offender a Neighborhood Cat from who knows where is becoming a nuisance... It's a Rural Setting so a Cat is on the loose or out for it's nightly prowl... Summer time , windows open and why this Cat has to pick our front deck is beyond me.. It can't get in underneath so it's wasting it's time trying... At say about 2:00am I hear this Cat crying & moaning if You Will.. I'm looking for any Homemade Brews of sorts to deter the Offending Cat and make it of the mind set to go play elsewhere... It leaves a smelly cat odor as well, we've never had Cats as Pets... Thanks

I moved this to Cats, a more appropriate board that will attract the members who deal with feral and stray cats (which is really your problem).

Is there an animal shelter in your area? If so, they usually will loan or rent out a humane trap that you (or they) can set to catch this cat and remove it and neuter it, probably then take it to the shelter or to a far-away farm that homes ferals and strays and will feed them. Your little friend sounds like it's an intact tom cat (the odor from spraying?).

The "moaning and groaning" may indicate the cat is injured. Have you seen it walking around?

Moaning and groaning may be a female in heat. More of a yowl.

In the Daytime I've seen a few cats out and about... Honestly Cats make great Mouser's and living in the Country with Farms close by.. Really if I knew of a Humane way to De Moan & Groan the Cat that's all I could ask for... LOL...

Catch and release programs are everywhere, you should be able to get some assistance for that.
You can't "de-meow" a cat. The yowling is usually related to mating and going into heat.
With the spay/neuter programs the cats are released back where they came from and can still mouse for you.

Catch & Release Program, Absolutely if I lived in Suburbia... That is right down scratching the bottom of the list of Priorities with Townships in the Country, the Animal doesn't have Rabies.. I was looking for a Homemade Remedy of sorts to spread around if You Will to convince the Cat to move on and do it's Moaning & Groaning out of Ear Shot is all...

I don't know of any home remedy, deterrents are sold in pet supply stores but I don't that would work in an outside environment. And what does rabies have to do with anything? Aside from the fact that they are not vaccinated against it and have more exposure potential than well cared for pet cats.
I know plenty of people who trap feral cats themselves and take them to get them spayed/neutered and vaccinated on their own. Even though even in a rural area we have catch and release.
I guess it all depends on how badly you want to be a part of the solution.
The bottom line is whether you trap them or animal control traps and removes them, if there are left intact near your property you will just have more coming by to say Hi!

Maybe ( Rabies ) was the wrong choice of words, Point is the By Law people will not prioritize otherwise... To catch and have said Cat Fixed is Not the Route or Expense $$ I'm taking... Thankfully it's only 2 stray cats were dealing with...

And if they are male and female (the moaning and growing = mating calls), you will eventually have a litter of kittens under your porch. Those kitten will grow up and mate with each other or cats in the area to produce more kittens.

If you don't trap and get these two cats fixed, you could end up with an entire cat colony under your porch.
