Making Credit card payments by phone
Hello,
I don't know if this is the correct location for this (this is my first time posting), but hopefully someone can help me. I do the bookkeeping for a small medical practice. I handle all of the bill paying, purchasing etc. I went to pay a credit card statement by phone the other day, but in speaking with a representative from the credit card company, I was told since my name is not listed on the account, they could not take the payment. I was making a payment to a business credit card that was in the name of the practice, from a business checking account in the same name. In the past months, I've been able to make the payment by phone without a problem. Since I wasn't able to make the payment, a check was mailed, but will arrive after the due date. Now the account will show as one month late, plus be charged a late fee. I was told that there is some federal agency that oversees this process, and if a payment was accepted from me, without getting the verbal OK from the card holder, they (the credit card company)could subject to massive fines. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, can I get my name added to the account. Thank you.
