    You go to your DMV in person if you don't have it written down anywhere. They won't do it online or on the phone. Bring at least 2 IDs with you, not credit cards.

    you take birth certificate and other required documents that your state will require ( assume you are in US) and go to the DMV and apply for a replacement license, (just knowing your number has no value) You also may have to report it lost or stolen at the police. Your states DMV web site should have instructions. When mine was lost in Georgia, they required a police report be filed, in case someone tried to use old one.

    Why would you want the number? In my State - NY - you request a duplicate. In most cases that involves an in-person visit to DMV. They look up the number.

    DMV has no idea who you are and isn't going to issue a new license based on the number of the old one.
