    I have a 1st offenders plea
I am in the teaching profession. I recently had a routine background check from a present job, and I was honest about my arrest that was pending on my record. My plea was 1st offenders from the arrest. Do you think that I will be let go of my job?

Depends on the violation/crime, what the school board policy is.

Where would this be... a conviction is a conviction... you don't get a pass on the first one or two at least where I live in the USA. It might be different in another country.

In the USA if you failed to disclose this... they can fire you... period... if you disclosed it and they hired you anyway... they don't get to change their mind later about it. A conviction AFTER you are hired... depending on the crime... may be legitimate reason for a firing.

Oops Judy beat me to the punch.

Oh my goodness, I misunderstood your reply. I did not mean to post the school county. The violation was a felony.

Does first offender mean that I was convicted of the felony?

A felony is a felony - second or third offender might get a far longer sentence than a first offender. That's all that means.

I would expect that you will be let go.

Even when I was sentenced to probation.

I guess it depends on what the crime actually was... but as Judy stated... it does all hinge on what the school board policy allows or not.

Incidentally I requested your school system name be deleted from the post by a moderator... but the state should remain.
