I just got a puppy rott in ma home country the reason I got rott is I'm a huge fan of rott breed but the prblem is I live in dubai and ma dog is in pakistan . I only vist pakistan for max 10 days . So will ma rott remember me ?if I spend 10 r 15 days with him play with him feed him etc . Will he attack he if he see ma after every 6 r 7 months plzzz reply...

You have to make your time memorable while in Pakistán. The dog will probably bond more with who you have watching him while you are in Dubai

Are you moving back to Pakistan at the end of six to seven months or would that be another visit? If it will be for a visit, how long until you are living in the same place he is?

A lot will depend on how the pup is raised in your absence. He will remember you, but probably not as his owner. You will need to re-establish the relationship once you are with him.

If you are staying in the same place that the pup will be, your scent will be all over the place and he will remember and associate it with 'home'. If he will be in a different place, leave a piece or two of old, recently worn (not washed) clothing for his care-takers to leave where he can smell it/them.

I am not certain why you think he would attack you simply because he hasn't seen you for a while. If you have this fear, then I wonder if you know and trust the breed or the people who are/will be caring for your dog. Are you also afraid he will attack strangers?

Rotties are good animals and if raised properly will not attack for no reason. Like any dog, they have to be raised and educated in what is expected of them. They need human interaction, obedience training, and proper stimulation through play and exercise as well as food, water, and places to sleep and potty. He should already be getting these needs filled. He cannot be left to his own devices and be expected to be a well-behaved animal.

I do question the timing of getting the puppy at this time. Is there some reason you didn't wait until you returned to get him?

In pakistan ma farm wokers take care of him while I'm in dubai. Im not afraid of he will attack strangers . I just want him to be a lovly dog. I have other breeds dogs also in ma home country . I have 2 pitbulls 1 doberman and 2 boxers . But they they are nice with me because I rose them while I was there for long visit . But in rott case I can't be there to get close to him . What can I do to make him close to me And love me . Just in 15 days ?

When you are with him, spend time with him playing and teaching him tricks (sit, stay, heel, roll over, etc) and offer treats when he does well. Lie down on the floor with him or sit near him and read out loud or tell him stories about your work life (dogs like to hear us talk). Let him know your smell and then leave an unwashed shirt so he can smell you when you are away.

I'm a cat person, and I know the dog people here will have good suggestions for you.

I'm going to disagree. My son was away at college for nine months, yet our cats (some of whom he wasn't all that fond of), glommed onto him when he came home for the summer. And our cats run for the bedrooms when a stranger comes over. Maybe he smelled like tuna?

When we first got our dog Indy (RIP) we were renting a house that wouldn't allow us to have a dog. My parents agreed to take him. We would sneak him to our house during the weekend, but during the week he lived with my mom and dad. My mom often told me that on Friday night you could see a visible change in Indy, he knew we were coming over to get him, he'd sit by the window looking for our car.

He lived with my parents for the first year of his life, they were his main caregivers, he should have bonded with them. He didn't. He knew we were his pack, his family.

So I have to disagree with Tickle.

This man was gone for years to Afghanistan. He didn't get to see his dog for that entire time. She sure doesn't seem to not recognize him. Obviously they have a bond. Just saying.

Something isn't adding up, that certainly doesn't look like a scene from Dubai or even Pakistan. That looks and sounds like a US soldier arriving home and greeting his dog! He seems to speak very good English, and certainly the OP doesn't seem to have a good command of the English language in his postings

I hope so since that is what the video is. Alty didn't say it was the op. It is an example of a dog recognizing its person.

D2vil, as I said before, he will probably remember you as someone he knows. Your scent will be familiar to him. He will also pick up on how the other dogs greet you. However, at his age and with the time between visits, he probably will not recognize you as his 'owner'.

Do you know when you will be returning to Pakistan to stay?
