My son has difficulty urinating and he's pee is light red

Take him to a doctor. He might have a UTI (yes guys can get them) and left untreated could cause worse problems

This is more of a problem then a urinary tract infection (difficult for men to get because they don't face the same problem of a narrow perineum that women have!). If the blood is quite evident in the urine a doctor visit should happen immediately. We all have microscopic blood in our urine.
