John deere 110 won't start unless I boost it then it fires right up checked battery was fine is there a way of checking to see if the system is charging

Hi,
Once the machine is running, hook a VOM or DVM to the positive side of the battery and the other to the frame. Should read about 14 - 14.5 V if it is charging.
