I will be 16 in a few days and I want my belly button pierced. I want to know what people think when they see someone with their belly button pierced. And how much does it cost to get?

For me it depends on which people and where I see them. At the beach, its cute. At the mall, with a sports bra or the like top, its not. Its hard to answer because I don't know you. That's just my wide net opinion. Have you asked the people in your life? Not just friends and peers but the older ones as well. They know you better, your personal style and personality. My daughter had hers done when she was 17. It cost around $85 with the jewelry. She was tired of it by the time she was 19.

No one in my family wants me to get it done. I am the one in my family that is very outgoing and likes to take risks. I mean I'm fit because I play soccer. I don't think soccer will be an issue, as the season is coming to an end, but I am also afraid that I too will get tired of it, and my parents will get mad. This is something that I really want to so, my parents just don't support it.

She (my daughter) needed a notarized " permission slip" even though I was there when she had it done. You probably won't get it done without your parents consent.

You have to have a parents permission and even then some places won't do it

Yes I realize that this is the reason SOME girls get it done, but that's not why all girls get it done and that wouldn't be the reason I got mine done. I just don't want people to think I am a slut if I get this done, or else, I don't care what people think

You care what people think? -- or you don't care? Which is it?

And who will see it?

Also, a bellybutton piercing has a good chance of becoming infected, developing a keloid (raised scar tissue), being pulled out while dressing or undressing. Please read some of the bellybutton piercing questions/threads on this site.
