My daughter's boyfriend has been staying with us for a year and in order to get him out of our house we have to evict him. He has been paying us $100 a week. That's not the problem. The problem is 2 families living together is no longer working. All this was a verbal agreement and would be only long enough for money to be saved for their own place. It's been over a year now. What's the eviction laws in Horry County South Carolina when rent is paid weekly with only a verbal agreement?

The only thing I can find is you need a 30 day notice if there is no written lease. Some states do say that notice needs to equal the rental period.

I would contact the local housing court and see what they say.

You have to give them WRITTEN notice to vacate.. in NC you have to give them 30 days to do so. If they haven't gone after that 30 days is up you file with the court to have it enforced... after you win that the Sheriffs office will forcible remove them and their property.

At that time you can change the locks.

Family relationships, money and verbal anything really don't matter. As long as there isn't a written lease currently in effect without a breach.
