    W4 question
    Hi,

I will be working in US on a long term contract position. My spouse will continue his employment in India, till he finds an appropriate position in US. My 2 kids will be staying with me in US.
Question is, how do I fill in the W4
    For Questions B and C in W4: should I enter 0 or 1

Also, during tax return, Can I claim my husband as dependent OR can I only include my 2 kids as dependents, as he may be working in India till he finds a position in US.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks for your help.

    Aditi

You should probably file JOINTLY with your husband, claiming yours and his Indian income and filing Form 1116 (Foreign Tax Credit) and Form 2555 (Foreign Earned Income Exclusion) to avoid double taxation.

Getting ITINs for your spouse and children will be challenging unless your husband can come to the United States to get his passport certified by an IRS official in a Tax Assistance Center.

For the W-4, claim MARRIED with TWO allowances.
