    What if I leave usa for more than 6 months
    Hi, I want to know when will I be eligible to apply for citizenship? Have gone to lawyers but not satisfied with their answers?

    Citizenship Requirements
    I came to USA October 2005 ,stayed here till August 2007, went back to my country to finish my stdz, came back USA again July 2008 n then kept going back every year till 2010 , since 2011 I have been staying in USA ,my question is am I eligible to apply for citizenship , ihv never been out of the country for more than a year..
    Time in usa
    Oct 2005 to Aug 2007
    July 2008 to Oct 2008
    Oct 2009 to Nov 2009
    Aug 2010 to sep 2010
    Feb 2011 to march 2012
    June 2012 to June 2013
    Acc to the lawyer I can apply for citizenship in
    August 2014... plz help because acc to my calculations I can apply after 2 months...

    They changed the rules of the game in th least year or so (don't remember the exact date it changed)... if you stay out for more than 6 months... they can revoke your green card now.

    Too many people were getting them and continuing to live overseas... this was to shift the quotas to people who actually wanted to live here... not have a piece of paper that would let them come when they felt like it.

    You must stay in US more than 50% of the time since you become permanent resident..
