We have just now experienced our fire alarm going off and right after we started to hear a buzzing noise but we are not sure if it is from the TV or the ceiling light/fan. Every time the buzzing happens our lights flicker throughout the house. Any ideas what this might be?? I'm very worried because it's a small house with 3 little ones. What is going on?

I'd recomment getting an electrician in to check everything out... because it sounds like an electrical connection that's arcing... and that is a serious fire hazard.

I don't consider this a do-it yourself project because you need to know what you are looking at... and looking for. It could be one or more of the outlets... it could be a switch... it could be the fan... it could be wiring that has been comprimised by a rodent chewing through the insulation... it could be a lot of things... most of them you don't want to let continue.
