I am 20 weeks pregnant and I get two galloping horses heartbeats on both sides of my belly with the fetal Doppler. I know the difference between my heartbeat and that of a baby. I also get kicking simultaneously on both sides. Could I be having twins?

And hardly anyone without medical training can tell nuances of a heartbeat they hear. Experienced Doctors can even miss serious conditions for decades even with annual physicals. (yeah... had that happen to me across a number of doctors until I was over 40 until it was found looking while for another problem and I was born with the condition).

It's unlikely that twins would be missed on sonogram. What has your doctor said?
