Hi, I am currently finishing my basement and decided to move a baseboard heater from one wall to an other 10 feet away.
I would rather not have to run a completely new wire to the new destination.
What I was wondering is could I just splice the wires from the baseboard heater and run it to the new location and re-install the heater there? (basically increasing the length of the wires).
I was told I would need to splice those wires in a junction box.
The problem with that is that it can not be covered by drywall or anything else.
Could I use an outlet box as a junction box instead?
That way at least the wall would look like an outlet and not a metal square.
Is that legal?

Yes but it will have to power to it, it will be an empty outlet, was hoping to use that as a junction box instead.

You can do this if the box you are using has enough capacity. By this I mean wire fill.
You need to know the size of the box and the number of conductors within.

So would a standard wall plug cut it?
