I put 4 each 60 watt light bulbs in my ceiling fan and didn't realize that I should use only 4 each 40 watt bulbs. There was a loud popping noise, one of the bulbs blew out and now the light fixture does not work at all (the fan still does). What did I break/blow out and should I attempt to have an electrician fix this our just buy a new ceiling fan and have it installed?
