    Dear Sir:

I am in the country on a old septic tank system. The toilet and shower are side by side and neither are draining vey well, eventually the drains do drain.
While plunging the toilet water came out of the lock down bolts that hold the toilet to the floor - so I am thinking my problem in between the toilet and septic tank.

Wondering do I need to remove my toilet from the floor to use a electric snake, assuming this is what you recommend.

    THANK YOU for your time
    Gary

The first thing I would do is open up the house clean out and check for standing water. This will tell you whether the problem's in the septic tank or tin the house drainage system. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom

We had a similar problem a few years back. After opening the clean out, we found that the back-flow valve had partially broken and caused a blockage of toilet debris behind the valve. Bathtubs and toilet would drain very slowly, and sometimes a toilet flush would send water back up into the bath tub drain. An easy valve replacement and clean out fixed the deal.

    Hope this helps
