    High hemoglobin level in blood
    Hello,

Recently I went to donate blood, where I got to know that hemoglobin level is around 18.5 which is said to be higher than the suggested range for men.

Currently I am 28year old, I don't smoke, not living in high altitude and my blood pressure is also normal.

Please let me know whether do I need to consult doc on this or I can ignore this figure.

    Thanks in advance,

Yes, your level is sllightly higher then normal and that also means that you were probably thirsty when you went in to give blood. When you had a drink of water, the level returned to normal, which is about 14, or 13.5 to 17.5. So you see you were not too far over normal for men.

This is as assumption of course, dehydration means that as soon as you are thirsty, it is called dehydration.

If it makes you feel better, visit your doctor for a check up, but there are many normal reasons this level would be, for lack of a better way of saying it, not normal.
