    Ceiling texture question.
Anyone ever seen this texture before? If so, can you tell me how to do it?

It looks sprayed on. Many times to create a texture you use a trowel and then dilute the compound to the desired thickness and trowel it on. What you would see is flattened tops. This process doesn't appear flattened so it may be sprayed on and done under low pressure.

Thinned drywall mud and a very thick roller. When it rolls out it pulls some with it giving it that texture.

I don't think it's sprayed as it was done about 50 years ago. As for the roller, I found a site which referenced a heavy wool roller and had a pic which looked much like what we have. Now where to buy a heavy wool roller is another story, but we'll try a roller with a long nap. I'll let you know how it goes. This is the hole we need to fill.

Check the roller that looked like a bunch of plastic string. That may give you that texture. Recessed lighting?

Yes, it was two four-foot fluorescent fixtures. Not familiar with a roller with plastic string. Can you link that?

Tried a lamb's wool roller brush this morning 3/4" nap. Used it with joint compound thinned a little. BINGO! Nearly a perfect match. I'm still working with it some, but I'll post some pics in a day or two.
