    Changing 220 to 110 volt
I want to replace my 220 volt ac unit with a 110 unit. At the plug there are a black , white and a bare wire. At the breaker there are 2 red wires. I replaced the breaker with a 20 amp breaker, how do I wire it up.
    Thanks Todd

If you have 2 red, there must be a junction box somewhere transferring to the black and white you see at the outlet. Is the white marked with black tape or marked with black? Did you measure the voltage at the outlet? You can't just guess. What did you do with the red wires? You used a single 20 Amp breaker? For 120VAC, you need 1 hot, 1 Neutral and 1 ground. For 240VAC, you need 2 hots and a ground. BTW, there is no 220 0r 110 anymore, it is 240 and 120 VAC.
