    Name of old western?
In this film two men hunted each other in the mountains in the cold. On one very cold night they both killed their horse to try to protect them from the cold only one survived. What is the name of this film?

Although Death Hunt is a good film it isn't the one I'm looking for. I should have added that after they killed their horses they got inside of them to protect themselves from the cold that last night.

I'm surprised that no one knows this film.

How long ago did you watch the film? Was it foreign or American? Was it black and white or color? Did you see it in the theatre or on TV?

Color, late 60 early 70 I think, was on TV, American. I'm sure George Lukas would know he did the same thing in a star war movie.

The only western I have found with a horse carcass type scene is Seraphim Falls (warning, graphic)Pierce Brosnan's Finest Moment - YouTube
I also came across an interesting article about two men in Idaho like 30 years ago who shot their horses and tried to use the carcasses to stay warm (gross)The Evening Independent - Google News Archive Search
Thought that a movie may have been made based on them, but I don't think so. Have spent quite a bit of time trying to find your movie with no apparent luck, hopefully someone else on the site can find it for you...
