    Email added to iPad
My daughter's school recently installed an app in her iPad that will allow her to read ePub or PDF books. However, the apple ID used was not hers. The school's IT department created a new apple ID on her iPad because they needed to install the app ASAP and didn't even bother to ask her permission or ask her to login her apple ID. Are there any laws broken by this act?

No... because first of all that iPad can easily be restored to how it was new... and they can reinstall it the right way. THey didn't drop and break it.

If the school owns the iPad... they can do whatever they want.

    Who actually owns the tablet?

It seems very strange that the school's IT person is allowed to touch student-owned equipment. The school needs to institute a policy clearly specifying IT procedures. This IT person seems to be a dangerously loose cannon.

I've heard of some school districts acorss the country loaning these out to students like Text books are loaned out.

In that case it might be hers to use for that school year but the school actually owns it. The OP hasn't clarified.

We have school issued IPads and also use our own at my school. The district will use a special ID to allow email updates, free software they want the kiddos to use, and also ebooks/e library. If the student's own IPad is brought to school to have the software installed (at our school), it is already written in the school's policy, that it will be used for educational purposes. As Smoothy noted, it is easily deleted and old ID's can be restored. The parent should read the school's technology policy that they have signed and agreed to. It's much safer to use the school's Apple ID.
