There is no way to avoid hurting her. The trick is to be quick and clean and definite, and don't drag it out with hugs and kisses and promises of friendship. Then do No Contact.

Can you do it that way?

You need to drift away from her or else tell her that her negativity is holding you and your relationship back from going anywhere.
