Signed off work but being made to go in
My doctor signed me off work for two weeks, but on Sunday my work rung me and told me I had to work all week, but legally I'm signed off work. I was told its illegal to go to work if you've been signed off work, and I can in fact sue them for this? I just don't know if its true that its illegal?

No, you can not sue, you merely inform them that you are on a medical leave. I will assume you provided the work place copies of doctor lettter and filled out any forms they require.

They may ask you to come to work, you have the right to refuse, if you have followed all of the companies policy for getting a leave

In most cases, the company can fire you for being out sick. And you can't sue. A doctor's note isn't grounds for anything under the law. It totally depends on company policy.

ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

Also, are you a member of a union or under an employment contract?

You might want to take a refresher on the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.

True, but it's clear from other posts that OP isn't in the US.
