I think you were trying to load Windows xp on a machine which was running on Win 2000. Have you been loading XP on a different partition? You should have first uninstalled win 2000 before loading xp on it. What is the hard disk size and RAM of your PC. I think Windows XP is having a conflict with Windows 2000. Are you unable to load now Windows 2000? It looks like the XP CD is corrupt and your system cannot read the files completely from the CD. You have already tried removing the cards, modules and even the battery which did not help you. It will be better to back up all your important files and format your hard disk then install XP on it.

The easy way would be to pull the drive --install it in a desktop PC as slave/boot up desktop/ find yoour drive in my computer/ right click/ format -- Savage
Edit --just noted your 128 in ram --that is not enough to support xp I think --

What I have found with my XP OS disk is that it will not install on my DVDROM/CD-RW so I have to plug in my old crap CD drive and it works fine don't ask me why.

Could be to do with the burning speed. Give it ago it stumps me every time then I remember.
