I have dogs too, two of them in fact, and I never have dog hair on my floor. Before you say that my dogs don't shed, one is a beagle, the other a border collie, and both of them shed a lot. I also have 4 rabbits that shed, especially this time of year. It really doesn't sound like you're cleaning regularly.
Flies love stagnant water. If you're rinsing her bulb out after every use, but not drying it, it's the perfect place for flies to lay their eggs. But no, they won't survive in her stomach, she'll be fine. Next time I would rinse the bulb, let it dry out, and then seal it. I'd also rinse it again with hot water before you use it.
