04 Hyundai Santa Fe dies while driving
My car stops while driving it. It has only happened to me once, but it has happened to my boyfriend about 5 times. It stops with no sputter, sound, or warning. I then tried several times to turn it back on and it came back on and I have been driving it since with no problem. I took it to the shop today but they can't figure out what's wrong with it because they can't get it to stop again. I don't know if it is electrical or a fuel pump problem possibly?

And its not tripping the check engine light or kicking any codes out of the computer?

Could be many things but if it's not throwing a check engine light, it may be the ignition module is overheating or even the fuel pump. Without checking it over, it's very hard to say as so many things can do this.

Odd since I had a 1996 Saturn that would throw a code and trip the check engine if ONE of the cylinders misfired twice for any reason.

Misfires, yes. Ignition modules will sometimes heat up and go dead completely until they cool. No misfire or anything, just dead stop. Older Cavaliers were known for that and when I was in the repair business, I would see that on numerous Toyotas as well.

Check for codes and pending codes, using an advanced scan tool. It wouldn't surprise me if a Mass Air Flow Sensor, Crankshaft Position Sensor, or Camshaft Position Sensor is intermittently failing. I would first focus on the MAF Sensor.

My check engine light is on and it has been for a while as well as the abs and tcs light. Well I took it to autozone and there were 4 codes one for MAF and an electric one. When ai get home I can give more details.

These details would have helped earlier and saved the time of guessing.
