My central air fan motor went out, so I bought a new one. It also came with a new circuit or whatever they call it. When I put it all back together I tried to match what the old one looked like. We have the thermostat shut off, then we flipped the breaker the fan comes on. So I go and turn the thermostat on to see if the condenser would kick on, and it does. So now my ac is working good but the fan won't shut off. I think I have the fan wire to a hot wire. I don't know can someone help me out with this? It's a goodman 2 1/2 Ton ac unit thanks

Is there another place to connect to the bottom left side of the contactor? Seems as though something is missing. I think the incoming 240v should be wired into the bottom of the contactor, not the top. You could move the red that is going to the capacitor to the spot on the contactor where the black from the fan currently is and then move the black to the fan to the bottom right side of the contactor (would need to cut and strip the black wire then loosen the nut at the bottom right and slide the black in with the orange and retighten the screw. This should cure the issue. Great pics, but something still seems a bit out of wack with the bottom left side of the contactor. As you have it now, the black to the fan is basically wired directly to the incoming line, nothing to keep it from running 24/7.

Im looking at this again, and I promise doing what I suggest won't hurt a thing. As you have it right now everything is "hot" all the time other than the orange wire on the bottom left of the contactor (it will be energized when there is a call for cooling and the contactor closes, this is where the black to the fan needs to be, but you also need to move the red on the contactor over to where you have the black now so you will get 240 to the fan. Give er a whirl and please let me know how things work out.

Enlarging photo of contactor, screw where incoming hot is connected looks right for connecting that wire. No other place to connect incoming wire to contactor. Looking at schematic, there is two leads that connect to bottom of contactor, black and yellow. I see yellow but don't black wire. Don't know what it is on the contactor, that they are connected to.

Schematic shows two black wires at T1. One goes to common of fan and the other goes to common of compressor. I see a black and a brown.

Schematic shows two red wires at T2. I see only one, goes to common of capacitor. At common of capacitor red connects with purple which goes to run of fan. Fan connection at capacitor has brown wire to start of fan motor. That is only brown wire I can find on schematic. So what is brown wire doing connected to contactor or are colors just incorrect for this unit. Some how there has to be a connection between T2 and the run of compressor (missing red wire).

In one photo I see purple wire. Hard to tell but looks like two wires of different sizes.

If in coming line is properly connected to contactor (and I believe it is) the only way for fan to run with contactor open is for there to be a back circuit to capacitor through purple wire.

What does that mean, do you mean capacitor?

Where does brown wire at T1 on contactor go. How many purple wires are there?
Show us the schematic that is on the side of the contactor.

The colors are wrong coming from compressor. The colors are orange brown and yellow. The fan wires are purple brown black the diagram came with the new fan Motor and cover I bought off eBay the capacitor and contactor are also new with the whole bit. It looks as though the contactor isn't exact as the diagram shows.

So from fan I have Pr wire going to c on capacitor brown goes to f on capacitor black goes to contactor but I might have that crossed.

The compressor wires I have orange to bottom on contactor brown to t1 I think and yellow to herm on capacitor

The contactor I have red t2? To c on capacitor then the two small wires one one each side the power wires red to t1 I think and black to t2 ?

I'm lost on the t1 and t2 because it don't look like the diagram.

MGD77 ill go try switching those wires u suggested and see what she does

MyGirlsDad77------ I switched the red and black wires and the fan shut off. I turned the ac down to 72 and it kicked on then cooled down the thermostat with a cold cloth and it shut off. So So far it's good I'm just wondering what wire it is that I left off?? Hopefully this will keep working and not burn anything up...

Glad it worked out for you. It shouldn't hurt a thing having it wired that way. Sometimes when you get new parts with different wiring schems and components than original, you just have to know how things work and throw the new schematic out.

Well had an issue this morning I had to put old contactor back on I now have all wires going to t1 and t 2 with the main power wires on the bottom ill have to post pics tomorrow and see if I need to move any to the bottom...

Well, I believe you made the correct decision. The main 240v in wires "should" be on the bottom and almost all other high voltage wires on the opposite side of the contactor. The only other wire that you may want connected directly to the incoming power side of the contactor would be if your compressor requires constant power for keeping the compressor (warm) but this would only be needed for heat pump system that run in the cold of winter. I don't believe your system is a heat pump, so on the bottom of the contactor you have your incoming power, and on the top you will have all other wires that will be energized when the contactor is closed via a call for cooling from the thermostat (24v pulls the contactor closed). Hope this is all making sense. Im much better at explaining first hand vs through a keyboard.
