    Swollen glands
Hello my name is Katie and my throat glands have been swollen for 3 years now. I been trying medication and nothing. I need to see a doctor and my knows that but she is too busy working to take me. I still live with her and I'm 22. I need to see a doctor about these glands because I can feel my throat glands getting more and more swollen. I been also having pain on the back of the head like a stab and I'm guessing I have something going on that is connected with the throat glands? I need a doctor and I want to go on my own cause my mom is too busy to take me so I have to do it on my own. I have insurance and I was wondering if the bills can be paid later during the week when my mom can pay them?

What 'medication' have you been taking on your own?
Call your family doctor, tell the desk why you need to be seen, get an appointment, tell them your insurance information when you get there. They will bill your insurance and let you know if you owe a copay or deductible, so don't worry about that for now.
Be aware that your swollen glands might be related to your teeth, and that your insurance might not cover dental work. But let your doctor see you first.
If you don't have a doctor, make some calls out of the phone book. You may find that some are taking new patients are some are not. You can also look for a 'walk in clinic' often associated with the nearest hospital. They don't need appointments. Some are pretty good at seeing people within 20 - 30 minutes, some are long waits. Ask around friends and neighbors for advice.
