We broke a cfl bulb in our home and I'm extremely worried about daughter. Help.
We broke a cfl bulb in our bedroom and I'm really worried because I have a small 3 year old daughter in the home. She loves to play in my bedroom but I haven't let her back in that room. I'm scared after reading online studies about vapor coming off the carpet and possibly the bed (where the bulb broke). I've called her pedi but he states he didn't know a lot about it and wanted to contact a toxocologist and do more research. Please help!

If you follow the recommended way of cleaning it up and air out the room you should be OK. You can call the manufacturer of the bulb if you don't understad the instructions or call your local fire department (not 911) and ask to speak to someone on the hazmat team and they can tll you how to clean it up and the risks.

I followed the directions the best I could. However, I believe I made one mistake. Which was after I picked up the glass and lint rolled the comforter with sticky tape, I put it in the wash. Once I realized that was wrong, I threw the comforter away before it could make it to the dryer. I don't know if that means my washer is contaminated now. What a mess.

No, washer should be fine, and honestly washing it, is not that large of a error, not all experts agree with all clean up rules, in fact not all agree on dangers.

Chuck, you are very right. In fact, that's the bigger part of my worry. Seems either the experts say its perfectly okay, or they say its dangerous, or they know nothing about it at all! I have a 3 year old daughter that I'm so very worried about and I wish I had more answers. I'm scared to let her go back into that room, and I'm worried about the quality of air in our home now.
