I had to have a new hard drive. I had windows xp home edition installed on the new hard drive. My speakers are hooked up but I have not sound. What can I do?

First question would be -- is the icon for your volume in your notification area?[by the clock] Is the volume turned up?-- if it is and is -- right click it and select open volume control and check the settings there. If those are all OK right click the icon again and select "adjust speaker properties" and check the settings there--Savage
You could download AC97 audio drive, I have to run this every time
VIA AC97 audio driver 6.80b download
Install the audio driver provided with the mother board's cd.
Plug the jack of speaker at proper jack. Most probably the green jack.
Don't use the front USB. It have to configure first.
