I have a lot of ceiling paint with primer left over and was wondering if I can use it to prime my walls. This particular ceiling paint goes on pink and dries white. It is not a flat paint per se... it has a bit of a sheen to it. The walls I want to use this on are already painted... some trim and some flat and semigloss. I'm not apposed to using bin or kilz, just wondering if ceiling paint with primer already in it would be o.k. Thank you in advance.

Why do you feel that you need to prime your walls, if they are already painted?

We had soot damage from a propane fireplace a year ago and had "pros" come and clean everything. Well, a year later we can still see streaks and light and dark areas so want to start with a clean slate... have washed with tsp (?) etc but still blotchy.

In that situation you want something designed to block stains... A product such as Killz. (just one I'm familiar with)... if you use ceiling paint those stains will eventually bleed through the paint.

Pros, TSP, etc - I would just use a good quality paint. Try one wall.
I painted over mold that I bleached but which had left stains and it was OK. Covered in 1 coat.

I would use it on walls but not trim without adequate sanding.
