Augmentin and ZPack for sore throat
I have never heard of a doctor giving Augmentin and a Z-Pack for a sore throat. This 18 year old has no fever, no ear pains, no body aches and his throat is only a little red. He had a sore throat a week ago and it went away but he did some weed eating and it started hurting again. He went to a free standing Med Stop last week and they told him it was a virus. Today he went back and they did no test (strept nor mono). This time they gave him both Augmentin and a Z-Pack. I have worked in medical field for many many years and have never heard of both meds prescribed together before. My doctors wouldn't even give meds for a virus. Most docs like to only give antibiotic's only when they have to so you won't get sick and no meds work because you have taken so much already your body is used to them and they won't work.
    Thanks for the feed back

Yes he did some weed eating in the yard and I feel it could be allergies. I just haven't heard both meds being prescribed with only a sore throat. No fever, no strept, unsure of mono, they didn't do a mono test, No other pain but sore throat.

I gotcha. Cutting down the weeds. I thought he was eating weeds.

No. I've never heard of both antibiotics given at the same time.
