External drainage system for Sump Pump - in clay soil conditions
    Hi there,

We are kind of stuck in a situation where we had our contractor do a backyard gravel pit to drain water that is being pumped out from the sump pump in the basement. The pit is dug and here comes a day of heavy rain... the water in the pit is overflowing and NOT percolating like it's supposed to. It's been 3 days and the water in the pit is still pretty much full. This is when we realize that the problem may be deeper down... Clay soil ? I think the water is not percolating through the clay layer. We already have the pit down about 6 feet. Does anyone have experience with this ? And recommend a solution for this problem ?

    Thanks

Also looks like a yard low point that would normally collect water.
