    When sulphuric acid is added to calcium carbonate what does the gas produced do?

    CaCO3+H2SO4=CaSO4+H20+CO2
    You will get Calcium Sulphate as result with water and Carbon-di-oxide. It will release heat,since it is an exothermic reaction.
