How do I talk to my doctor about embarrassing things?
One of my testicles has been bothering me for a while. For about 3-4 weeks it's been rather sore on and off. I examined them and found a small lump that I didn't remember being there before. It was pretty sensitive.
I know I should see a doctor about it. However, I just feel really really embarrassed. How do I bring it up with my doctor? What all will the doctor do, and will I need more tests later on?
    Thanks!

Doctors do not care what problem is, they look and see it all, I came back from hospital a few minutes ago, and I had to have my pants down betting tests and then to another room for more tests.

So you go and tell them where you have a lump. The doctor will look at it, and decide if there is a need for any type of tests,

You just go and get a doctor to look, you tell him exactly what you posted here.

What may be embarrassing to you won't be to the doctor. Doctors have seen it all. I can promise you that.

Consider this. What is more important? A moment of embarrassment or death? If you were to have testicular cancer, and I'm not saying you do, it could kill you. Do you want to live or die?

Doctors are professionals. They won't laugh and they've seen it before! Don't worry, just go for it, because you might regret not going later on.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies and encouragement.
So an update. I went to my pediatrician today and told her about it. It was kind of difficult, but not too bad. She examined my testicles and referred me to a urologist.
What all can I expect from the urologist? I'm nervous about the tests and stuff, and I've never been to a doctor besides my pediatrician. I've heard some unpleasant things about urologist appointments and want to know what I have in store.

    Thanks.

My son had a similar situation. The urologist examined the area, then sent my son in for an ultrasound of the area. Then, we went back to the urologist to find out the treatment.
Let us know what happens when you go :).
