Radical changes to your diet. Certain foods too - cherries are one (fresh).
But you need to stop the build up of acid crystals in your toes, or it will hurt like hell.

IF it is gout, my friend (who had his gout confirmed by a doctor) swears by cherry juice. The doctor or a good medical site will tell you about trigger foods to avoid.

I think it's a good idea to have it diagnosed by a doctor first... from what a friend of mine that had it told me... (from memory) is its not that easy to diagnose and there are other things have the same symptoms, that need far different treatment..

While gout should be diagnosed properly by a doctor, you can change your diet to see if this helps.

Cut out red meats, alcohol and tobacco. Add cherries to your diet. My husband gets some relief from eating a can of cherries and drinking the juice when he has an acute attack.
