    Basset Hound Sleeps A LOT!!
Ok so my 3 month old Basset Hound/Beagle is always wanting 2 sleep. All she wants 2 do is b around me and sleep next or on top of me. I tried playing with her but she doesn't really try. Is it a puppy thing or a basset hound/beagle thing?

Puppies this age are just like human children, they require a lot of sleep. Three month old puppies will sleep most of the day, with short bursts of energy in between (very short bursts).

As long as puppy is eating well, drinking, and has regular bowel movements, and is peeing, there's no reason to be concerned. He'll soon grow out of this sleep stage, then you'll wish you could tire him out. :)

    Congrats on the new puppy.

If the sleepiness continues or gets worse, you may have to worry about low blood sugar or low RBC count (Anemia). Both can cause sleepiness and low energy.

Just for kicks, rub some Karo syrup on her gums and see what happens. There are no side effects to it and if she is low blood sugar, she'll jump right up and be active. Monitor for how long. If she acts like a normal puppy, than its time to make a vet visit for some bloodwork.
