    208 single phase
    Hello,

I have just purchased a plasma cutter and it requires 208/230volt single phase. I only have 240 volt power in my shop.

Any way to make this work or do I have to get a different plasma cutter for 240 volt.

    Thank you

You use both hots from the 220... without the common... you will be somewhat over the 208volt needed... but it will work and be single phase. I wired in a 208 volt 3.5 hp air compressor that way... and the one in our office has been for over 30 years as well...

Actually it's both hots from your 240V panel, without a neutral.

Your 230V cutter will work fine @ 240V.
