I been with a man I thought was the love of my life for 18 years never had any children by him because he couldn't show me he was stable in life ( he has children from previous relationships four total). I recently called it quits I had enough because I want someone who is going to be there for me. He still calls me once a week but I really don't want to remain friends because I felt used though this whole relationship taking care of him because he can't get stable. Am I being mean for feeling like this?

No, you are not being mean. Cut off contact and stop the misery. You are giving him the wrong signals and keeping him hopeful.
