    Email Attachments
    Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone can help me with my problem... I have Windows 98SE with Outlook Express. All was fine with sending and receiving emails but a friend recently emailed me with some photos (as jpg attachments) but I have not received the email. Since then a few other emails have gone astray.

    Can anyone advise me?

    Thanks

You need to check with your friend whether the email was lost at his side, and it never reached you.

You should send yourself a test email to check. Use a free email account, like gmail or hotmail, etc.

The email from your friend is probably very large and blocking the subsequent emails from reaching you. Are you on dial-up by chance?

Thanks for that, HVAC888 and NeedKarma, I have already checked with my friend and it states in his sent items that the email was 'sent', I checked my email address and this was fine. I have also sent myself a test email from my Yahoo email and this was received OK.

    I am on broadband.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks

As NK has already said the mail may have been too large for Yahoo to accept.
Check what size you friend sent to you.
I believe that the limit is a couple of Meg

It was my true email that it was sent to (Outlook Express) not the Yahoo one (I had sent myself a test one from Yahoo to OE to see if it worked)...

The account that you use in OE still may have a size limit.
Is it an ISP supplied account ?

I am now going to show my complete ignorance! I am not sure, not that good at the technical side of things... sorry! I am on broadband, when I first got internet access I had to set OE up with ISP details etc... does this help or am I being completely thick?

    Right.
Now you need to find out from your friend how big the e-mail was.
I'm sure you'll find it was OVER the ISP size limit.

Thanks, much appreciated... last question, the email had approx 15 jpg attachments - how do I find out my ISP limit?

Have a look on their site and failing that mail their support people with your question.

You should also ask your friend if he received an email with an error message from your ISP. Something like mail too large, receipient not found, etc.
