I'm 16weeks pregnant. I have thought for a week and a half now that I had a yeast infection. Used monistat 1 this past Sunday, and as of Thursday no change. Doctor called in another 7 day crème Terconazole. Started it Thursday, as of today no change. Now I think I have bacterial vaginosis. I have heard this can cause 2nd trimester miscarriage. How long do I have before this effects my unborn child? How much time do I have to get to the doctor? I can't even call until Monday and I'm freaking

One or two days is not going to make any difference.

Then if you are in doubt, go to the hospital; we obviously can't diagnose or recommend on the internet.

Jerri, VG can be treated safely while you are pregnant, but you would have had to have it for months before it effects the baby. In my part of the world, tomorrow is Monday, can you get to your doctor tomorrow? If not, go to the hospital today.

BV is an STD, but at the same time it can be caused by anything that has lowered the Ph balance in your vagina making it susceptible to this; you just have to make sure you don't get it again, after you get rid of it. Doctor will recommend antibiotics suitable for your pregnancy. Please be careful of material your underpants are made of, cotton is the best.

Sorry I misunderstood you. Most people, unable to go the doctor for whatever reason, come here hoping to be diagnosed, which is impossible to do on the internet.

Although bacterial vaginosis is not an STD history tells us that many genital problems are often misunderstood and therefore mislabeled. For a while BV was tested using the same kits as an STD. If it was tested positive then it therefore was diagnosed as an STD; wrongfully of course but that's where it started. Even today, doctors misdiagnose Bacterial vaginosis because there aren't a lot of scientific results that provide concrete information about it.

Bacterial vaginosis is not a STD but often associated with a sexual infection because it involves the genitals. It occurs when the vagina's normal bacteria is disrupted by an imbalance and replaced by an overgrowth of bacteria. It's really just that simple but often people are misinformed because they don't have the facts.

This is what I found on 2 different sites saying that bv is NOT an STD..
It would be silly for someone to think that a stranger on the internet could diagnose them. However I understand that it happens. You should not be so quick to judge.

To quick to judge what ? That people come here to be diagnosed? Of course they do, not many people have the resources to go to a doctor, no medical insurance, nothing.

I think I did mention in one of my replies that the normal Ph in the vagina has to be disrupted first for this to happen. You don't have to quote the internet information for me.

I would imagine BV is STILL LABELLED AS AN STD because it is the basis for all of the other STDS on the market. BV can increase a woman's chances of other STDs, such as herpes simplex virus (HSV), chlamydia, and gonorrhea.

If wasn't until I told you other wise that you were nice and attempted to answer my question. If this is all some people have maybe sending them straight to the hospital isn't the right approach. We are all volunteers here jerri with other jobs. I have been helping out for over seven years. This isn't for me? Sorry but yes it is, and if you didn't like the answers then maybe this isn't for you. Sending people to the hospital is the only option if they seem to be in a bad way. We can't tell them what is wrong with them, not knowing them or their medical history. What would you have us do give them information that may harm them?

Not too pleasant? How can you determine that over the internet where facial expressions, voice inflection is the main part of determining if a person is not 'too pleasant'.
