The Chis Matthews and Morning Schmo's of the world are certainly fearful of that prospect. Now that they've taken out Michelle Bachmann ,Cruz is the primary target in their cross hairs. Matthews ;frothing at the mouth ,called Cruz the unsmiling contemptuous face of the wild, nasty hard right fringe
I expect one of the Republican Governors will survive the circular firing squad primary process that the Repubics have constructed .
Cruz was born in Canada, so I don't think that he can legally run for president.
He's a natural born American born overseas by an American mother . Guess it is time for me to dig up my post about that when I was taking on "birthers" who questioned Obama's eligibility

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code Sec 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth":
Anyone born inside the United States
Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. Does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S. as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. For at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. National
Any one born in a U.S. Possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. For at least one year
Any one found in the U.S. Under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. Who lived in the U.S. For at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time) A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. Citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
So even if the evidence shows that he was born outside the US and his Hawaii birth certificate was a fraud ;he would still be qualified .
Maybe that's why he has such extreme views, he's ashamed of being born in Canada, so he's overcompensating by parroting stupid tea party ideas to reassure the other nutbars that he's really one of them.
Were you born in Canada ?
Yes I was, but my family was from Germany, so culturally, I'm more German than Canadian. That's why I think that Conservative parties and politicians in Canada, Europe and Australia are more sensible than the Republicans. They concentrate on important issues like the economy and aren't obsessed with gays, abortion, birth control, guns and religion. They also realize that taxes are necessary and don't have this ridiculous "no new taxes ever" view that the tea party has.
So in other words ;their premise is not that much different than the social democrats aka Fabians . The Conservatives there just think that they are better managers of the nanny-state .
Hello again, tom:
To be clear, I DESPISE Ted Cruz's politics. But, he is anything BUT an idiot.

It's a tough job to replace Michelle Bachmann on the loony fringe but somebody has to do it! Cruz is qualified.
She's out because her supporters stopped giving her money.Quote:

Hello again, Steve:
Me too. I don't know about the qualified part, but I agree with you about the rest. He's NOT hiding, is he?Quote:
I find him to be a breath of fresh air, but give him your best shot.

Hello again, Steve:He's doing that exact thing..Quote:
Nope, he's taking the entrenched RINOS head-on and I love it.
The problem is, that he's shoving Tea Party House Republicans to adopt an even RIGHTER WING position than they ordinarily would, or be called a RINO by Cruz. Hannity is already doing that.
They are NOW cornered into shutting down the government OR being primaryied. However, IF they shut down the government, they'll be blamed just like they were in '95, EVEN though they (you) SAY that Obama will be blamed...
If they pursue this suicidal position, I predict the House will CHANGE hands in 2014, gerrymandering notwithstanding.
Go, Cruz, go!

What you have here is a person whose sole claim to fame is he can bore everyone for longer than anyoneelse
I'm for David Vitter's plan . Eliminate all the exemptions. If Obamacare is so good then everyone in the country should be inflicted with it.
But Cruz was great this week . Not all battles can be won... but that doesn't mean they aren't worth fighting.
There will be no shut down.. But the Dems are going to take a hit over the CR . They will get a CR with sequester spending levels intact.
The real battle to come, to see if the Repubics have any spine ,is the debt ceiling . If the Repubics can't take a stand against unsustainable national debt then they have no business being an opposition party to the Dems .
As far as being primaried... after his disgraceful collaboration with Reid ,John McCain should be primaried out of office.
Actually polls show Congress and Obama will equally share the blame for any shutdown, and I predict that in spite of the media's frothing at the mouth, RINO's like McCain giving the Democrat response to his efforts, and childish MoveOn petitions to rescind his Harvard diploma, Cruz will only get more popular. He's a sharp cookie
I want to know if Cruz took a potty break during those 21 hours.
He stood up the whole 21 hrs . If he took a potty break it was in adult diapers .
