    Why would my dehumidifier freeze?
Did anyone ever have a dehumidifier that freezes up? The filters are clean, it seems to run fine but then Ice forms over the filters. It's only 2 or 3 years old.

Yes - I bought it from Sears and it was a constant problem which I never got resolved. I have no idea why a piece of equipment which is not creating cold air would freeze!

But it does create cold when refrigerant goes through the coils, that's how it dehumidifies. Are you getting airflow through the coils?

Most likely something is impeding the airflow, like dirt, or a dirty filter.

Yes, there is air flow. I cleaned the filters, maybe there is something else I have to clean?

You have to clean the coils which get very dirty. You have to spray them with alkaline coil cleaner or the spray Easy-Off oven cleaner that contains sodium hydroxide (Both have liquid sodium hydroxide also called lye.). You then wash out the coils and fan blades very well with a hose nozzle and make sure you get it all dry before running it again, especially keep water off any motor capacitors and/or dry them well before running the device.
