Hi I was wondering if you file divorce before receiving your k waiver or going to Mexico what could happen could you get deported or do you have other choices

OK my friend has been married for almost three years it will be three years this November well him and his wife have a daughter together she has filed for his papers but he has not went to Mexico yet to the immigration there in ciudad Juárez well just here recently him and his wife has split and he wants a divorce but has been told idlf he divorces he will get deported he has no waiver or green card they just started the process that's all but they have filed the papers with a immigration lawyer if he divorces can he get deported or what will happen

There are a lot of details leave out here such as how he entered US, etc. Anyway, he may be able to proceed if he can prove it's not a sham marriage. Consult experienced immigration attorney.
