    Flush toilet won't empty
I am getting ready to remove my toilet. Turned the water off and flushed. The tank empties but the bowl does not. Should the bowl empty? I have a venting/sewer gas issue in this bathroom and was going to pull the toilet to check the flange.

No! Not only will the bowl have water but if you dip and sponge out the bowl but you'll still have about a gallon left in the trap that you can't get to without turning the bowl over.

Replace the toilet with a new wax seal. If that doesn't solve your gas problem check the other drains. Let me know how you make out. Good luck, Tom
