    Capaciter for allegiance 12
I turned on my American Standard Unit - Allegiance 12 (1994) modal #7A2024A and it did not make cold air. I hooked up my gages and I have freon; but, compressor was not working. I heard what sounded like my capaciter clicking every minute or so. After about a 1/2 hour the compresser kicked on and made cold air. I pulled the breaker and put it back in and the compresser did not kick on again. After a few more times of pulling breaker and taping on capaciter the compresser finally kicked on again so I put the fan back on and let it run. The unit cooled the house last night. My question is is my capaciter going bad?

Cap could be weak or the contactor might not be allowing enough current through to bring on the compressor.
